Blog Post: Reflecting on Our Group Presentation Over the past few weeks, our class worked on a group presentation that focused on several major topics shaping our world today:  healthcare ,  our environment and the safety of people ,  education ,  the economy ,  immigration , and  families . Each of these topics represents a critical issue in society, and together, they form a larger picture of how communities function, grow, and face challenges. Our task was not only to research and present facts about these topics but also to  conduct interviews  with real people to understand their personal experiences and perspectives. This combination of research and real life input made the project much more meaningful and eye opening for me. Working as a Group- From the beginning, our group knew that we had to organize ourselves well to cover all the topics deeply. We decided to divide the subjects so that each person could focus on one main area and ...

These past few weeks, our class explored major issues affecting people today healthcare, the environment and safety, immigration, education and  economy. Even though each topic is different, hearing real stories from the people they interviewed made me realize how connected they all are. Instead of just reading information from articles, we got to listen to actual experiences, and that made everything feel more real and meaningful. One of the topics that stood out to me the most was healthcare. Learning how expensive and complicated the system can be, especially for people without insurance, opened my eyes. Hearing about people avoiding the doctor because they can’t afford it honestly shocked me. It made me see how healthcare affects way more than just someone’s physical health. When a person can’t get proper medical help, it affects their school, work, routine, and overall opportunities. Healthcare ended up feeling like the base of everything, because without it, so many oth...

Isabella sequea  September 16 , 2025      When I first signed up for this class, I honestly didn’t know how to feel. I’ve always been a nervous speaker, and it doesn’t matter if it’s in person or through Zoom , the nerves always find me. As soon as I know I have to present, I start overthinking everything. I’ve seen people completely freeze in the middle of a presentation, and honestly, I’ve been one of those people before. I always worried it would happen again or that I’d lose control of my emotions and end up crying in front of everyone. Just the thought of that possibility made me anxious before I even started. But as we went through the different presentations in this class, I started to realize something important. Public speaking wasn’t just about logging into Zoom, turning on your camera, and reading off slides. It wasn’t about rushing through so you could be done as fast as possible, which is something i tend to do because of nerves . It was something m...
When I think about this first presentation project in public speaking, I realize that these speeches were about much more than sitting in front of our computer and talking to the class completing an assignment. At first, I assumed the main goal would be learning how to deliver information in a clear way, but as I look back on the process as a whole, I see that it was also about building confidence, developing discipline, and learning to adapt in real time. These lessons go far beyond the classroom and into everyday life. Public speaking is a skill that will be useful in almost any situation, whether I need to give a professional presentation at work, pitch an idea to a group, explain a project to teammates, or even deliver a speech at a personal event like a wedding. Having multiple chances to practice in a safe classroom environment is going to allow everyone to make mistakes and grow from them. Each presentation gave me something new to think about and improve upon, and I see the ent...
